SLP Neuro Care is a Speech Language Pathology outpatient service provider for adults and geriatrics with neurogenic communication disorders, cognitive disorders, fluency disorders, and voice disorders caused by a neurological condition or event. It is our mission to provide the highest quality of care and support to individuals with these conditions. We believe that every person has the right to effective communication and the ability to perform at their optimal cognitive function.  

We provide comprehensive assessments, individualized treatment plans, and ongoing support to ensure that our clients receive the best possible care.

We also prioritize education and advocacy, working to increase awareness and understanding of communication and cognitive disorders within the wider community. Through our outreach efforts, we strive to ensure that individuals with these conditions receive the care and support they need to live full and rewarding lives.

Neurogenic Communication Disorders

Neurogenic Communication Disorders are communication disorders as a result of damage or impairment to the Nervous System or the Brain. We treat these disorders including Aphasia, Dysarthria, Apraxia, and Cognitive-Communication disorders.

  • Aphasia is a language disorder that results from brain injury or stroke and affects the ability to speak, understand, read, or write.
  • Dysarthria is a motor speech disorder that affects the muscles used for speech, resulting in slurred or slow speech.
  • Apraxia is a motor planning disorder that affects the ability to coordinate the movements needed for speech.
  • Cognitive-Communication involves language and thought; it is the ability to process, store, and recall information, as well as to think critically and analyze situations. Cognitive-Communication Disorders involve impairment in one or more of these processes: Memory, Attention, Problem Solving & Executive Functions.

Voice Disorders

We treat Voice Disorders. Symptoms can vary, depending on the underlying cause and severity. Some common voice symptoms include

  • Hoarseness or roughness of voice.
  • Breathiness or whispering quality of voice.
  • Strained or effortful voice.
  • Inability to speak loudly.
  • Vocal fatigue or loss of voice after  prolonged use.
  • Difficulty in pitch or volume  control. 
  • Pain or discomfort  while speaking. 

Fluency Disorders

Fluency Disorders includes conditions where individuals have difficulty with the flow of their speech. We treat these disorders, including:

  • Stuttering: may be characterized by one or more of the following- sound, syllable or word repetitions; blocks; prolongations; tension; avoidance; atypical facial oral motor movements/grimaces; atypical extremity moments.
  • Cluttering: may be characterized by one or more of the following- excessive revisions; interjections; frequent topic changing; unexpected pauses in connected speech; omission of word endings
